They are a sturdy, resilient breed although may experience back problems. As a brachycephalic breed they are also susceptible to overheating and some dogs may experience breathing and eye issues. Excellent skin and coat condition and a good digestive function are especially important for small breed dogs and are a sign of general good health. Important information:

Care and Behaviour: French Bulldogs require an effective care routine along with good food nutrition to help manage their skin and coat condition, body size and general wellbeing.

Grooming: Weekly brushing to encourage natural oil release and to remove any excess hair.

General Health and Teeth: Regularly check eyes to ensure they are clear, clean and healthy looking.

Check for signs of weight gain by weighing regularly as this can occur quickly in small breeds.

Regularly check dental hygiene (training to accept teeth brushing as a puppy will help maintain oral health).

Exercise and Play: Typically 60 minutes moderate exercise in short bursts per day (in hot weather care should be taken not to over exert them).

French Bulldogs can be very affectionate, they benefit from socialisation (training will be more successful when started early and made fun - take care when it's hot).
